It’s well known that with a good hook and DIY spirit, I can be pulled in on whatever the sound is. Forged Artifacts, a label out of Minnesota, recently released a collection of 11 unreleased tracks from Minneapolis artists that has an old school camaraderie to it. The mix reminds me of stumbling across old vinyl albums that were label artist features. The concept is amazing, and the final result from Real Numbers is equally as rad. “Frank Infatuation” is plucky, wrapped-in-a-blanket-next-to-the-fire gnarly goodness. Real Numbers pull of something pretty special with a track that sounds more basement than garage with the echoing drives of each chord. When something sounds this cool, you can often find yourself rambling around trying to pontificate on it, but in the end it’s all about letting the music do the talking. It’s hard to ignore the vibe being delivered, so maybe it’s best to just let it ride. -SoundChips
